Gout Sounds Like a Bunch of Bull Posted: 11-03-06 01:29am
Doc told me I was well on my way to
developing gout due to high uric acid in
my blood (13.0). He gave me a bunch of
stuff to read and sent me on my way. I
wasn't real concerned and figured a few
lifestyle changes would be in order and I
would be fine. But now after reading
this crap I realize it's a total complete
change of my life thats not going to
happen anytime soon. I mean, it says
eat no more than 4-6 ounces of meat in a
day!!! They must be nuts, I wouldn't
insult my grill by throwing a 4 ounce
steak on it!!! And no beer!!! No
way, no how, not in this lifetime will I
totaly give up beer. I'm no lush or
anything, but I greatly enjoy tipping a
few cold ones several times a week. I
could cut down, but never would I give up
beer altogether. And the rest of this
diet is just nuts, no fish, which should
be good for ya. And it even says
excersise may trigger gout. Thats just
stupid. Sounds like they just want me
to sit around eating nasty cherries and
avoiding everything thats fun and good in
life. Well, I guess i'm going to be
dealing with a good deal of pain in my
future, because I just can't live this
way!!!! Sorry to rant, i'm just a bit
upset right now.

Well, a bit of good news on the horizon.
Went to the doc today for an unrelated
cause. We talked about my unwillingness
to give up the good things in life and he
agreed it was hard if not impossible for
most people w/ gout to go cold
turkey...Mmm, wait turkeys not allowed
either, okay.....Cold green tastless
veggies I guess. He informed me only a
small percentage of people w/ elevated
uric acid actualy get gout. And people
with gout can also take medicines that
will allow them to continue a normal life
with few if any gout attacks. He said the
meds were pretty powerful stuff and had
some nasty side effects, but I will risk
all that for the taste of a prime cut med
rare filet straight off the grill and a 6
pack of premium suds. I am going to make
some lifestyle changed and enjoy these
things a moderation and loose a bit of
weight, and hopefully lower my uric acid
on its own, but if not thank god for
modern medicine!! Good luck to all, i'm
going to stay off here until the dreaded
day the gouty toes rears its ugly
head...C-ya and good luck to all!!!

Not just gout, but high uric acid levels
is indication your body is not in good
shape. In other words, maybe not soon,
but you could be setting yourself up for
other diseases, like the big c or a nice
big heart muscle cramp.
Check into the healthy risks of having a
high ua level, gout is the main symptom,
but there are other risks as well.
Maybe your triglycerides are high, if so,
there goes your beer as well. Unless we
plan on checking out of hotel california
early.

No hi tri's here. Everything else is
fine. Sugar, hdl, ldl, bp, all in
order!! And beer dosn't effect
triglyceride levels anyways. It may
cause obesity and other problems that may
lead to additional problems. But beer in
and of itself has no effect on tri's.

You Could Lose a Kidney Posted: 01-14-07 20:57pm
High ua can also cause stones in your
kidneys. My mom lost a kidney to high ur
because she didn't want to give up stuff
either. Well, I guess i'd rather give up
a steak than a kidney!!

Beer has alcohol usually. Acohol, can
affect tri's. Also, the added calories
can affect your tri's.
But what do I care.
Gout is bs, preventing it is bs. You
getting any diseases seems to be bs to
you. God man, you are superman, and we
are all foolish it would seem.
