Q: Acne Scars, How To?

Hello. I'm new to ehealth. My name is amber & i'm 20-yrs-old, soon to be 21 this coming december! :d

i have moderate to severe acne. I've had it since I was about 13-yrs-old. Over the years I have tried a variety of different medicines, and right now i'm on three which I take daily. They seem to be working better than the rest. :: knock on wood x3 :: i'm remaining hopeful.

However, I was wondering if anyone has ever had or considered surgery to repair acne damage? I have a couple of scars on my face & chest, which bother me & add to my poor self-image. I also have a smally cyst located around the corner of my mouth. Because of the med's I am on now, it remains almost invisible, but i'm worried it'll begin to grow again. :: knock on wood x3 :: [sorry. I'm a bit superstitious if you couldn't tell].

What kind of surgeries do they have for facial scarring? And, what are the price ranges? I've researched a bit online & i've watched enough plastic surgery shows to get some ideas.

I would love to experience the beauty of clear skin during my youth, not when I am older. As my dermatologist told me, "i hope you grow out of this soon, you're reaching 21-yrs." I feel the same way he does, trust me. I would love for nothing more than to 'grow out of this.' if I do, i'm still going to be left w/ scars. And, that is something I would definitely like to fix.

I was just curious. Thanks for reading & even more thanks to anyone who replies.

Wink amber irene

>>>surgery to repair acne damage

you cant repair scars all scars are permanent. If you skin is damaged more than superficially scar tissue must result. You can revise scars to try to hide them or make them less noticeable. But surgery will not repair anything to "like new" condition. I wouldnt be willing do do dermaplaneing myself. If I had really bad scars I might but then I wouldnt really go out for like 6 months. You can get punch incisions where they cut out depressed scars suture the good skin around the scar creating less noticable scars. Linear scars can be changed location to match natural facial lines. Keloid scarring where the skin grows outside of its natural boundaries can be treated with steroid creams apparently I think that will only temporarily reduce the appearance of the scar but its still there. I think. Dermaplaining is where they sand off your skin mechanically to to resurface it. Tour face would be read forever and look very bad till like a year later and if you were expsoed to sunlight un the sun your skin would be all blotchy and discolored and even if you looked ok the hyperpigmentation would make you look awful. If its superficial scarring you can treat easily. Use glycolic acid 50% be careful with like 70% acid cause it will burn your face and you will get bad hyperpigmentation mabe even forever. And then like 2 weeks after glycolic acid treatments use ogabi clear skin bleaching cream. Its supposed to be a prescription cream but you can just buy it at prplastic without one apparently. Dont do peels more often than recommended. Also there us something called tca cross that might make some difference if you did it once every 2 months for like a year. How bad the scar is will probably determine if you need plastic surgery or if superficial you can treat it yourself. Out

My cousin had bad acne scars and had laser surgery to reduce the look of them although you have to wait until you no longer have acne to do this

There is no such thing as "no longer have acne"
We will always have acne for the rest of our lives.
It's like cancer, it can be healed, but it's always there, and can and will come up whenever.

who do you really think you are "Dannzibelle" You just can't go around saying "Wait until you no longer have acne..." WHO are you kidding?
She will always suffer from acne, I will always suffer from acne, she will always be on those three meds that she is on now until she dies.
Acne is not curable, it never will be.
