I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend of four years last night than I started bleeding heavily this morning. What does this mean? Could I be pregnant? My cycle usually last seven days, its light hte first two than heavy about four days than it lightens up again. It never stared off this heavy before. Women don't release eggs during this time do they? I am not on bcp. Shocked

Unprotected sex last night would not have affected you today. You might become pregnant in another week or two, but you are not pregnant yet. It takes about 10-14 days for the sperm to meet the egg, fertilize it, for the egg to travel down to your uterus and set up shop.

thank you so much ayamiyaki for responding so does this mean I could still be pregnant even though my period is still on? I thought you only released eggs after your period ends oh my god not on the day/night it happens to come on. So because my cycle started that doesn't mean anything I could still be pregnant from last night a week later?

relax. Go get some birth control. Don't ever have unprotected sex unless you expect to get pregnant. Chances are that you are not pregnant, but no one can say for sure. Be safe use a condom every time.

I would say it's highly unlikely you will be pregnant from last night. I won't say impossible because who knows, but I wouldn't worry if I were you.

That said, use protection every time if you don't want a baby.

Good luck. Wink

with that being said I will have to talk to him about that b/c we do want a baby but i'm a little afraid b/c I know that children are life altering. I'm just a little afraid the baby will be crying and I won't know what to do. I just don't want to be a bad mom. We are financially stable and we pretty much have things mapped out I guess i'm getting cold feet b/c i'm afraid of the unknown. You like will it be painful, will the baby have a defect, what if I die during labor I don't know i'm just afraid even though I want this so bad and so does he I just don't want to let the baby down or my fiancee. Oh yeah guys we are getting married on april 25, 2007 on my birthday. Thanks so much for the feedback. I didn't know who else to ask w/o looking or sounding stupid.

It's normal to have fears about those things, no matter how much you want a baby. However, if the worries are all-consuming then it might be your way of telling yourself that you are not really ready for a baby yet. Perhaps use some birth control for a while and think on it? There's no rush - you are still young!
