Q: Congestion, Fever, Pus Pocket In Throat

My boyfriend has a temperature of about 100-101, congestion & stuffy nose, worn out body, sore throat, and a little pus pocket in the back of his throat. What could this be? At first I thought strep throat but I didn't think strep throat was accompanied by congestion and a stuffy nose. Maybe it's a sinus infection?
