I have send following e-mail to lewis lurie, the ceo of this website:

dear lewis,

my name is jeanne, I have recently joined the ehealth forum under name of eugeniabrown. I have to congratulate you, your website is certainly had become a good reference source for many.

But as with many community driven sites, I am sure there are problems along the way. The reason I have joined the forum is that having experienced an abortion, I found that many women come to your website to look for some answers. Having been in their situation, I think I am entitled to express my experience. Unfortunately I was feel not welcomed at the forum by many very active members simply because my views may be different.

Since many of those members have become moderators of the abortion forum, some of my topics are being locked so peoples can not continue to post in those topics.

Some other community driven forums offer an option to “report” a member no matter who they are. I think this gives a wonderful opportunity for new members to progress and make their voice heard, but it also contributes to the authenticity of such websites, it also helps a website not to become biased and one sided. I understand that introducing such an option may complicate things, and may require more of your time to closer review posts to make a decision regarding complaints made, but it also may prove beneficial to your wonderful website in the long run.

I look forward to hear from you.
Jeanne.

P.S. I am posting this letter on the forum as well, so it can bee seen by the members.

It is okay to say "i regret my abortion"

but it is not okay to so "so will you"

you do not know if women will regret or not.

first, you are not the only woman on this forum who has experienced an abortion. Secondly, you have now fully expressed your experience along with your opinions dressed up as fact. Your experience could be helpful to some women, your opinions could not. I believe that many people on here took exception to your attempts to parade your beliefs and opinions as fact.

And, further, if your's is the only story pushed onto every thread and every confused woman, it becomes, by repetition, .T.H.E story for the board which may make the women who feel differently than you, the majority of women, feel uncomfortable about posting here. that is what was occurring on this board once upon a time and thankfully it was stopped. when more people came forward with their authentic and unique stories, it created a more open and supportive atmosphere with which to answer women's questions. I will not apologize if I object to your, or anyone elses, attempts to return us to the time when this board was hostile to .Women seeking honesty.

Quote:
unfortunately I was feel not welcomed at the forum by many very active members simply because my views may be different.
you came to the abortion support forum with an introductory post that, to me (and obviously others), was not supportive, at all. Then, you posted your "article" which was also not supportive of .Women coming here seeking information about all of their options, including an abortion.

I don't think we should have to kiss eachother's backsides and put up with unsupportive, self-righteous, demagogic rhetoric dressed as fact. You didn't feel welcome? well, if I had been a woman scared, confused, pregnant coming here for some answers and I had read your "article", I would not have felt welcome in posting on this forum because it was obvious that you do not support abortion. The overall lack of support in your posts is what is .N.O.T welcome.

Quote:
since many of those members have become moderators of the abortion forum, some of my topics are being locked so peoples can not continue to post in those topics.
how much you know. The moderator of this particular forum, I believe (and please correct me if i'm wrong), is personally prolife. Your topics are being locked because 1). You dress up your personal beliefs and opinions as fact and try to post them as such. 2). Your posts are unsupportive. 3). Your posts belong in the debate forum since they are argumentative and take one side on this issue.

Quote:
some other community driven forums offer an option to “report” a member no matter who they are.
if this forum had that option, I would have reported you with your first post on this forum for being unsupportive and disrespectful to the women who come here looking for answers.

Quote:
I think this gives a wonderful opportunity for new members to progress and make their voice heard, but it also contributes to the authenticity of such websites, it also helps a website not to become biased and one sided.
your posts are biased and one sided. You do not consider the individual woman, only what you believe about abortion is what all women should do. If you wish to express your opinion in this manner, there is an abortion debate forum that you can post in. Unlike the support forum, in the debate forum you can be as biased, self-righteous, and scientifically ignorant as you wish to be and still post your opinions.

This is utterly ridiculous. This forum used to be the way you seem to want to see it, biased, one sided, unsupportive, and disrespectful. After much effort, it has changed dramatically. There have been several women who have come on this site who have stated that they received support here when no one else would support them despite whatever decision that they made. Some decided to obtain an abortion, most did not. However, what they received from us was the support to make whichever decision they already knew they had to make. i don't see why anyone would like to see this particular forum turn back into a place where .O.N.L.Y the .Women who choose to keep the pregnancy are given support and honest answers to their inquiries.

tomato tomahto. A difference in semantics does not excuse the very clear implication of your statements.

Eugenia, I think the problem has been that you have been posting on the 'abortion support' board about pro-life issues and that is not what the board is for. Perhaps try posting on the 'abortion debate' board instead and the reception might be better?

I certainly hope you don't stop posting altogether because it's nice to have someone new with a fresh perspective on the boards. Wink

regards,

purestgreen.

i find it difficult to navigate this web site. If you select the index of forums on this web site, there are only two abortion forums one pro-life and one pro-choice. If you use search box and use "abortion", it will eventually bring you to a forum that is simply identified "abortion". Could you please post a specific link to the "debate forum" , this will definitely help.

There is a menu at the bottom of the screen which says 'jump to' and then a scroll list appears when you click on the down arrow to the right of it. Quite near the bottom of that list (but not as far as the pro-life/pro-choice boards) is the heading of 'conditions and diseases- new forums'. Directly under that is 'abortion', which is the abortion support board, followed by 'abortion debate'.

Hope this helps.

on the "jump to" drag down menu at the bottom of the page, the "abortion debate" forum is the next forum directly underneath the "abortion" support forum.

Clicking on "health forums" at the top of the page will redirect you to a page with a long list of all of the forums. Under the "conditions and diseases - new forums" headline, "abortion debate" is the second option, again, directly beneath the "abortion" support forum.

And here is the link (all lower case):

But you do not even know if women may regret their abortion either.

You cannot make assumptions about how other people will feel, it just does not work that way.

You can say"i was forced to have an abortion and I regret it. I think that women who make the decision for themselves are better off mentally, so I hope you make this choice for you"--- this is a great way of offering support without being pushy.

don't like it? Don't come back. Your choice.

well, I think I know who you are now Smile .... That's ok I will stay, I think there are few things I can change to be more welcomed. But what about you, are not you tired from being constantly banned from this forum?

If you live in the us, I would be real careful. There are people who lost rights to access the internet behaving like you do. Did you know that?

no, cuz she is lying... Fundies do that to scare people into fucking jesus.

let me begin with this. You are able to come to this forum over and over gaain since you do not have a static ip adress, but you can be sure that your internet provider (which can be determined by the same ip adress, even if it changes from one day to another) has much more information about your online behavior than you can even imagine. One day it may burn your a ss real bad. That is all I have to say. You are lucky that ehealthforum.Com have been patient with you so far, but even they one day can say enough is enough.

Of course I am lying. Wink

Eugenia I like you, I really do but you know you gotta stop this thing of writting to the ceo. You have got to remind yourself that this is an online forum. If you don't like what people writte or whatever don't take it personally. It's only an online forum.

oh come on, to be fair to her - she's hardly saying 'i know where you live and i'm gonna get you', is she? It's a fact that internet providers can ban users from their service if the user abuses it. Don't expect it happens very often but it is true.

Majority of isp's dont even go static anymore expcept in the case of router/modem firmware but have fun trying to find them cause then their ip start off when 192.168.Xx.Xx

a few people can have the same router ip lol >>>wake up hunny<<
