Since When Does Tying Your Own Shoes Become a Task?
Posted: 10-27-06 22:28pm

I'm 25 weeks prego and my belly is nice and round. I'm at the point now where I can't tie my own shoes! My hubby has to help me or I just tie them before I slip them on! And to make things even more difficult for me I am not tall at all!!! I'm maybe 5'1 give or take so no matter what my pants are always dragging on the floor and I hate that! So when that happens I can't bend down and cuff them! Any suggestions on how to try to avoid having to do the impossible? Smile

Suggestion.

I know it may sound somewhat difficult, and possibly impossible...But I say, try using tongs, like the ones from the kitchen. Or even just get some slip on shoes like vans or something along those lines. Or get skater shoes; they can be tied all the time, and are extremely comfortable and! They can be easily slipped on Smile

My mom bought me a pair of crocs... You know, those hideously ugly kitchen/garden shoes that are clogs with holes in them that somehow became trendy? I've always thought they were horrible and mocked pretty much anyone who wore them but once I tried on the ones she bought me I haven't gone back to my old shoes. They are incredibly comfortable (my feet used to hurt so bad after work that I couldn't walk, these ugly shoes are a miracle cure) and they slip on. I haven't worn real shoes in months.

I invested in a collection of shoes that slipped on. I bought those sneakers that have elastic and velcro. I have crocs too! They're the greatest shoe on the planet. I still wear them. The little nubs are like an all day foot massage! Here's a little trick I learned for cuffing pants and putting on shoes (i'm short too and I got big early). I have a coffee table that is just below my knee level, I would put my knee on the table so that my leg was bent behind me and that helped me put on my own shoes and cuff my pants. I could just turn a little and reach sort of behind and down instead of trying to bend over that bulge. I feel your pain sister! Wink

I was blessed enough to spend my last trimester in the .Louisiana heat. So it was totally acceptable to wear flipflops everywhere I went.

I couldn't bend over at *all* my final month. My legs were sooo hairy when I went to the hospital to have .Aly... Embarassed

I didn't have that problem cos I always wore trainers...Sneakers? Which I tied up once then just slide then on everytime, everyone does that here. I only tie laces when I wear boots.

me too! I hated crocs, but had to swallow my pride and buy a pair when we went to new york. I wear those and my flip flops. I haven't worn real shoes since may.
I'm so embarrassed. We're invited to a wedding tonight and I have .N.O.T.H.I.N.G to wear. It's gotten cold over here, which I didn't think would happen until after I had the baby, so i'm screwed and we can't go. Crying

Lol the car thing is easy for me b/c I drive a grand cherokee and it is at the perfect height. No stepping up or down Smile just slide right in. The shoes and the socks though, jeez... I'm 35 weeks and 5 days and my hubby has to put my socks on for me or I don't wear any! Smile

Well I feel everyone's pain. It's soo wierd how we take the littlest things for granted like bending over lol! I've got a good one how about getting in and out of bed when you have to pee every five minutes! Now talk about a real task! :d

Laughing lmao!! This post is hilarious, listening to everyone having belly problems!! It's hard for me to tie my shoes, put socks on, and wash my feet in the shower. And to top it off, I started a prenatal yoga class where you have to cross your legs for a few minutes while you meditate and do certain exercises. That was funny. My damn legs and feet fell asleep!!!

My biggest problem is rolling over in bed. I start to hurt after about 20 minutes on one side so I need to switch to the other and I actually have to get out of bed to do so. It's too uncomfortable to roll over so I stand up, rearrange my pillows, and get back in. I usually go to the bathroom too since i'm up and it's right next to my side of the bed. I can't wait to sleep comfortably again and on my stomach!

I can't believe i'm still able to shave my legs at 40 weeks. I just did in the shower and I felt it was quite an accomplishment! Shaving other places, however, not so easy. Embarassed

We have a water bed, so it was beyond impossible for me to get out of bed by myself without taking a few minutes.

My legs were disgustingly hairy when I went into the hospital, and I don't even want to think about what my vagina looked like. Thank .God I couldn't see it anymore!

I shave once a week and pray everytime that's I go into labor soon, so I don't have to do it again until after she's born. I'll have to do it thursday if she's not born by then. Sad
it's a funny thing to see. I cut my leg the other day b/c I couldn't see and the razor wasn't the right way. That hurt!
I managed to polish my nails. I was determined to do it b/c no one else wanted to.
I twisted my fat legs in ways I never thought possible.
