Stopping to Smoke
I found that one can only stop smoking if he really wants to stop smoking. Otherwise nothing will work. If you really have grown tired of the dirty habit, then it will be much easier for you to stop.

I tell you what, there is nothing easy about quitting so it is extremely important that your friend consider talking to his doctor about what method he can use safely and successfully. I have quit for two weeks and four days by using the patch. I have done this a few times but I always stopped using the patch after week four because I was convinced I was "cured." this time it's six weeks on step 1 and i'm going the whole program no matter how much those darn things cost. If your friend watches what he eats and get's the support from you then his mood swings and eating habbits can be maintained. Tell him to eat smaller meals and throw in some fruits and veggies for snacks through out the day. Eating bags of raisins has been noted to help those of us who snack and drinking tons of water throughout the day can help not only psychologicaly but it will fill the body and cleanse it from the toxins as well. I find that drinking tea during the day helps calm me when I start to crave. He'll just have to find what works for him and give it a go. But remember, he truly has to want to quit. No one else can convince himself that it's time except himself.
Good luck to you both!

Former Smoker
I quit smoking 6 months ago along with my boyfriend. I did the cold turkey method which is probably not what your friend is willing to do however my bf chose the laser option. He had been smoking 2 packs a day for over 10 yrs. The laser treatment cost $300 and included a booster treatment within 1 month after the initial. He too has not smoked for 6 months and did not even take his booster. However, you must want to quit as the former has stated. If this person doesn't want it for themselves nothing will work. If they do want it I strongly recommend the laser method and can give you more info. On where it is performed. It is not painful and is extremely relaxing. Let me know if you are interested in finding more info. Good luck in the meantime
