I'm 38 and have been told that I was born with epilepsy, and that my seizures were so mild when I was growing up that no one probably noticed them. I have always had bad headaches as long as I can remember. But my life took a complete turn when I had my oldest daughter. Shortly after I had her I started to get weird and funny feelings. And my vision would get really screwy, sometimes it seemed like someone was pulling a thick screen over my eyes. And I would drop things all the time.
I went to the doctors and they couldn't figure it out. They told me all sorts of hair brain things.
Then I had my second daughter and while I was pregnant I felt great!!!!
After I had her I went back to feeling weird again.... Til one day on my way home from visiting my mom I had to pull over because I just didn't feel right. Well, that happened twice on the ride home.
That night I had my first grand mal. My husband didn't know what was happening. He thought I was possesed, cuz I was bouncing so high off the bed. The doctors said they never heard off someone seizing that hard before or biting through their tounge so bad. They actually wanted to put stitches in it. Well, that was when I was finally labeled epiletic.
My question to other ladies....
How does it affect your seizures?????
I had to have a hsyterectomy and be put on hormones and they put me through a tail spin of grand mals, to the point of my surgery being moved up.
How has menopause affected your seizures??? Thats a "big" concern of mine right now?????? I'm on topamax and one of the side effects is being warm..... Or I could be starting menopause. Because my seizures are increasing and changing again.
I was told that the reason I started to have the more severe seizures was because of the hormone change of having my kids......
Sorry so long, but I feel very strongly about this subject and would really like some input!!!!
