Diabetic With Pain After Hysterectomy
Posted: 01-28-04 16:35pm

I am 8 weeks out after a total hysterectomy and still have debilitating pain in my lower abdomen. I am also a type 1 diabetic (28 years). I just had a ct scan to see if the doctors could find the source of pain and was told that they saw nothing significant - apparently I have some "nerve damage". What does that mean? Is it a catch-phrase for undiagnosed pain? Do you think the doctors are just assuming that because i'm diabetic it's nerve-related? What should I do from here? Are there any other diabetics out there who have had trouble with pain after a hysterectomy or any other surgery? This is very frustrating.

Hi! Pjstevens,
my name is cindy . I had galbladder & exploritory surgery done 7 months ago. I also have pain that is debilitating in my lower back and hip I have problems with my left leg to where it gets stiff at times. I have been on muscle relaxers since my surgery. Yes! It is very frustrating but beings I don't have health insurance the doctors won't do any thing for me.I had told them that I was not like this before my surgery and I think they've taken it to heart. I don't know what to do about it either and I am not diabetic the last time I checked.

Sincerely,cindy
