Q: Am I pregnant? 4 neg. tests, weight gain, and light bleeding
asked by: DoctorQuestion on October 24th, 2006
I am a 16 year old female and i think that i may be pregnant. I took a home pregnancy test (4) and it came back negative. Then I went to the doctor and took a urine and blood test and it still came back negative. I got a second opinion and it still came back negative. During this whole process, i weighed 116 plbs, now i am 138 plbs. I have been gaining weight, sleepy, lightheaded and headaches, nasuea when wake up and around the mid evening, and my stomach is getting bigger. I recieve comments every day asking me if i am pregnant or not. Even my teacher i been knowing since i was 7 told me that i am pregnant. I took a ultrasound and the doctor could not see anything. It was too gassy to see anything. I just recelenty took a cat scan, but people tell me that i shouldn't have because it can cause harm to my baby if i am. I'm tired of guessing and need help. If i am pregnant i need the right kind of help and get into a TAPP program so i can recieve the right help. Please help me. My periods have been coming on, but it's been too early and light sometimes dark. I can't really tell if i'm having a period or it's implantion bleeding. please help me! thanks

Implantation bleeding only lasts for a day or so and is light/spotting. This occurs around or just before your period.
This is because after conception it takes about 6-10 days for the embryo to travel down the fallopian tubes and embed/implant in the uterine lining.
Also for this reason implantation bleeding only happens once - not every month.
Implantation bleeding is not common and not many women experience it.

Your best idea is to go back to your doctor and get a complete health check. Something is causing your weight gain, nausea etc etc.
But negative pee and blood tests and an ultrasound pretty definately confirm your negative result.
If you were too "gassy" it shouldn't make a difference to the ultrasound as they would then use a transvaginal probe instead of the abdominal one or call you back at another date.
