My mother has had deep pitted edema for 7+
years. I'm not sure about the exact time
frame. She's in her forties now. Her
legs are always swollen, about twice the
normal size it seems. If you press on
them for a few seconds the indention will
stay for five minutes. The isn't really
discoloration of the skin except maybe
where blood vessels have burst. The
sweeling never goes down very much, and
recently she's been getting pain in her
pelvis that's pretty severe.
Other things I can think of, her eyes
sometimes look jaundiced to me, her
fingernails are a very light color without
moons and horizontal grooves. She has had
a lot of kidney stones when she was
younger, and she just got a lot of mercury
fillings removed from her teeth. She ha
told me that she doesn't produce a lot of
urine and she rarely has a bowel movement.
She's done all sorts of cleanses for the
colon, mercury toxicity. She's never
drank or smoke and she works out every
day. But she hasn't been to a doctor for
this, I need to know some likely causes so
I can get her to go to a doctor.
