I have quite a predictament at work. This woman lost $22.50. It apparently was in a baggy...Which she left on the lunch room table....
( first of all...Why would you leave any money on a lunch room table when you work in a spot that employs about 1000 people?)

well, the same day she lost this money.. I found a 20 bill... I didn't know she lost this money until yesterday, and I found mine on friday when leaving work.

Could it be the same money? It wasn't in the same spot she lost, as where I found it, nor was it the same amount of money...But close.

I didn't tell anybody that I found the money, but yesterday...People were talking and whispering, that we have a thief on our hands. I have this major guilt that has completely overcome me. I feel like I am going to go to hell.

All I keep thinking is "i'm that thief everyone is talking about."

help!!

Personally I wouldn't worry about it. She left her money on the table, it's not like someone went in her purse and took it. You found $20 and i'm assuming it wasn't in a baggy, so it probably had nothing to do with her money. It's her own fault and she needs to keep better track of her things. Finders keepers, I say... Unless I found $22.50 in a baggy, then i'd return it to her... Maybe.

One Thing You Could Do...
Don't feel guilty (easier said than done I know). You didn't know it wasn't yours. First of all I don't think that it was hers unless someone stole the 2.50 and left the 20 outta the bag (unlikely). But to soothe your troubled mind you could leave an envelop on a common table in the lunch room with her name on it (have someone else write her name so you're not suspected).

I lost a 10 dollar bill a couple of weeks ago. But it was my fault because I probably left it on a table somewhere. I certainly wouldn't want whoever found it to feel like a thief. I hope they enjoyed it and bought themselves a creamy milkshake. I know how great it feels to find a bill. Heck even a toonie.

Anyways, everyone loses money at some point in their lives, and everyone (i assume), has found money someone lost at some point in their life. Thus the balance of life!

Thanks guys I do feel better... This guilt tho...I so powerful.. I never wanna feel like this again.
All I keep thinking is my poor baby, I hope he doesn't think his mother is a thieve. The money wasn't wasted though, I spent it on a few groceries.

I lost $ 10 a couple weeks ago too, but I never once accused anybody of stealing it.

It will probably die down in a few days.. The topic will get old.

It's not like someone took it out of her purse. She left it, accidentally or whatever. That's her own fault. I'd be surprised if she was pissed off that someone took it. Whoever was lucky enough to find it, hats off to them.

Now if it had been a wallet they would have found, I would expect them to at least make an effort to track the person down. Even if they did take the money, leave the wallet in a lost & found or something. It's annoying replacing your driver's license and whatnot.

Hey 20 bucks to some people is like $100.00, but you found money in an area that isn't the same place. I wouldn't assume that it's hers. It's her fault that she left the money on the table. Not your fault. Maybe next time she will not go leaving money in a baggie anywhere......Umm why was it in a baggie to begin with?

I agree, why would anyone leave $22.50 in a baggie in a lunch room that employes that many people, he or she should at least put it in their pocket or wallet or gave it to someone they trusted, it sounds kind of fishy, I am sure with that many employees someone would pick it up, it is not your fault maybe she/he sort of put it out there like she/he was asking for someone to take it, and with that many emplyees someone will take it. It is good to know that you have a conscious but I would not worry. I have found money and have turned it in and their have been tines that I have kept it and I too have had money taken from me. When I worked in a hospital I always insisted that thepatients always take there jewelry home or money and have only kept a couple dollars on them and did not keep there credit cards and we would always lock there purses or jewelry up in a safe, just about anybody can take things when you are out of your room or sleeping.
