We have a graco willow travel system and we're trying to put the base into our nissan pathfinder. My husband followed the directions, but the darn thing doesn't seem secure. It moves around. It's not in there tight even though he followed the directions and tightened the belt. Something isn't right. We read the manual a million times. We put the infant seat in the base and the whole thing wobbles around everywhere.
Anyone had this problem?
We could bring it to the state tropper office for them to show us, but it's over an hour away.

We have an .Evenflo system, and it did the same thing. We tried putting it in the center of the backseat, and it would move more than an inch in each direction. Tightening the seatbelt did nothing to stop this.

What fixed it was putting it on one side, instead of in the middle. They don't really recommend that, because of a side-impact danger, but there was nothing else we could do. The dumb thing wasn't secure!

You can also take it to your local fire department and they will assist you.

Just make sure that you have it in the back seat. I have always put mine in the middle of the seat. Make sure the base is facing towards the rear so that when you put the carseat on the base it is facing the rear and not forward that was my mistake. Good luck hun.

We have the graco something or other and ours is kind of loose too. I tried to get someone at the police/fire station to install it but they only had 1 guy who could do it and he's rarely there. Nick put it in according to the instructions and he even has the latch system in his car which is supposed to make it even easier and it still moves around. I pushed down on it and he tightened it as much as it would go and it still wiggles a bit. I'd read that the back part that is against the seat shouldn't be able to move at all but I just don't see how that's possible. And we had to put ours on one side too, it wouldn't work in the middle.

We had the same problem, we also ended up putting it to one side rather than in the middle.

This sucks! We have a shoulder/lap strap for our middle seat and it says to use a lock whatever for that. Tomorrow we'll look at it and hopefully that works. It's only our state trooper place that does it over here.

My boyfriend is a firefighter and he was told to install ours on the side for this reason.

Yeah we're having the same problem with ours.. And we have to put it in the middle seat because our little honda is too small to have the car seat behind the seats... We have a 87 honda prelude... But yeah... Our hospital will cheak the car seat and hook it up properly before we can leave so hopefully they can hook it up for us..

Our car seat takes up a ridiculous amount of room once the handle is folded down. We had to move the seat all the way up so that it would fit back there. Unless you want your knees under your chin, you can't sit in the passenger seat.

My husband looks like a chauffeur driving us around. Rolling Eyes

***edit***

figured I may as well post a picture of my sweetness in her carseat, on the way to her grandma's house.

they'll check it but if it's not in properly they'll have you fix it. I don't think they'll fix it for you because if you're in an accident and something happens they could be sued. I'm pretty sure that's how it is everywhere.

Isn't it safer to have infant care seats facing rear

yes, it is. All infants must face backward in their seat until they are a year old and weigh 20 pounds.

Hey! I help the police department and state troopers in my area with car seat checks so maybe you could try this...Try putting shelf liner underneath your car seat (the type thats kind of bubbly, not the real slick ones) and that usually helps with sliding. Also make sure the seat is level. If you have trouble getting it level you can cut down a swimming noodle (the floaty things for the pool) and place it in the crack of the seat to help with any extra space. Both the shelf liner and noodle are used quite frequently when we do checks and they are both approved for safety in our area, so give them a try and if it doesn't help I would consider calling your state troopers.

The manual says something about propping it up to be level. We'll try that too.
Thanks
