I was diagnosed with MS 5 years ago; I've had it approx. 10 years. I also have a misaligned jaw (not due to injury) and a cross bite that was never corrected. I'm experiencing TMD, according to my dentist. I am looking for treatment for the jaw misalignment - surgerical or non-surgical. I was surprised to find that TMD and MS share some simlar symptoms and I'm wondering if there is a connection between the two, or if I'm dealing with completely separate issues?

There isn’t any connection between multiple sclerosis and temporo-mandibular joint disorder. MS is a neurological autoimmune disorder whose various neurological symptoms are due to brain lesions. TMD is not caused by a brain lesion. Symptoms of TMD originate from the TMJ and surrounding structures (face muscles, teeth, ligaments, nerves, blood vessels, ear etc.). TMD is usually due to physical and mental stress.
