Hi guys,

i came home from a gallbladder removal earlier today. It was a keyhole
surgery and without any complications. To start with I was doing fine, but now
i can't even seem to keep water down anymore. I'm throwing up bile and i
can't get a straight answer from the hospital what this is or what to do about
it. I really need to be able to drink water so I don't get dehydrated and to take
the painkillers.

Anyone had this problem? And what did you do?

Hi there I got sick after my gall bladder surgery and it was from the anesthetic. Throwing up bile because I was not allowed to eat before the surgery, maybe this gives you some help.

Thanks for your reply, marlene...But it showed out to be something much more serious than that.

I had to see my gp who sent me straight back to the hospital again. I got admitted and they found out that the small intenstine was stuck in the wound by the belly button where they pulled out the gallbladder. So when I came in I had no movements in my tummy or the instenstines whatsoever.

I ended up in surgery again and this time they put back the small intenstine where it should've been from the start. It was all a mal-practice and nothing else.

Today i've been home for about a week, i'm getting stronger but having problems with the wound. It's still leaking a lot and I will have a doc looking at it tomorrow. Not sure if it's just due to me moving around too much, or if it's something else, but otherwise i'm doing pretty well.

Thanks again for your reply.

Having gall bladder removel & a yr later having stomach ache
I had my gallbladder removed a yr ago this past Dec. This past fall I developed nausea at times. As time went on the nausea got worse & I would vomit bile sometimes. I had an upper GI & colonoscopy & was told I had a slight inflamation of gastritis. I was told to take prilesec for a month & then call the clinic to report how I WAS DOING. I did fine but after not taking prilesec for 4 days I got sick again with stomach aches & vomiting. I was told to get back on the prilesec. I did & after 4 days felt better. Later, I think after a wk I developed the stomach aches & vomiting again even though I was on the prilesec. I decided the prilesec wasn''t working & stopped it. I began to feel much better after a friend advised me to take lactobicillas & eat a very bland diet. I did that & began to really feel much better. Now after a couple months on the lactobicillas & feeling better I am not feeling so good again. The stomach aches are back & I have vomited a few times. Somes days are good & some aren''t. I also have had loud noises in my stomach some days & nights. I am now thinking of trying the prilesec again. I am at my wits end with this. Sooo tired of not feeling good. Has anyone else experience this.

stomachaches after gallbladder removal
Hi Cricket,

I am experiencing similar symptoms as you. Although it has been approx. 2 years since I had my gallbladder removed, I get stomach aches, although not as bad as when I still had my gallbladder, but they are annoying just the same, I get the nausea and now I've started to vomit bile on and off, and even worse when I've vomited bile I've usually had diarhea with bile in it (sorry if TMI), this just started a couple of weeks ago and I have not yet seen a doctor about it. Last night I was awakened in the middle of the night with an acid reflux type feeling but it was bile. It's disgusting! I have been taking prilosec as well, but it only helps for a while and then stops working after I've been on it for a few weeks. I know none of this really helps you with your problem, but I know for me it's nice to know that I'm not the only this is happening to.

I had my gallbladder out on April 5th and was fine (like a champ) until June 6th. Since then I get pressure in the middle of my chest and then cough and then throw up bile, like 4-5 times in a row, then the pressure goes away. After the second time it happened, I saw my gastro dr. who said he didn't think it was related to my surgery (i mean why would it be, the gallbladder just stores bile, right?) so he sent me to a cardiologist who said it's not related to my ticker and he thinks it IS related to my surgery. It took my gastro 2 years to diagnose my gallbladder (well actually i went to a different motility specialist who said check gallbladder). Geez, i just want to stop puking. If anyone finds out anything, let me know. I tend to believe it is bile reflux, which is different from acid reflux. I guess the next step is a repeat endoscopy...ugh so frustrating.

gallbladder
Hi, I had my gallbladder removed in 1994....I have had the hurting and throwing up bile...turned out to be a gallstone in the duct....they can find it by doing a ct scan...and remove it...Had to go thru this twice and it could happen again.
