Question I have been on the deop prevera for almost 7 years with no bleeding during that time, but recently I was raped and know I am wondering if a person can still get pregnant even though they do not have any bleeding!! Does anyone have any idea if a person can??? Sad

I wouldnt think so....Because if your not bleeding then you are not ovulating..Therefore there is no egg being released.

Ok
Well- even after the depo-provera shot some women stop menstrating, but this does not mean that you won't get pregnant. You should really see a doctor to get checked, especially if the man who raped you wasn't wearing a condom (this way you can get tested for std/stis as well as pregnancy). Also, your chances of being pregnant increase after about 6-12 months after the last shot. I hope this helps you, and I hope all is well!

Hi piggykitten! Each depo shot last's for 8-12 weeks, so as long as you have been having regularly then there should be no problem. During this stage you cant get pregnant (or theres little chance), but once you stop the depo you might not bleed straight away but you can still ovalate even though you have no blood. I know this because I stopped having the depo last year, and eight months on I have had my first period.

The effectiveness of depo drops dramatically after it's been in your system for over ... 5 years is it? Maybe even 2? Anyway, you've been on it for too long regardless. You need to consider a different form of bc.
