Been Sleep Walking a Lot Recently. Doing Strange Things... Posted: 10-18-06 04:36am
Hi,
i have been sleep walking a lot recently.
When I wake up in the morning I have no
recollection of sleepwalking the night
before. But when I wake up the next day,
I see the aftermath of what I did in my
sleep. I.E., one morning I woke up and my
closet light was on. This was definitely
not on when I went to sleep as I sleep in
the pitch dark. I walked in to the closet
and noticed that I had urinated in my
laundry hamper.
So even thought I don't remember ever
getting up (or being conscious) after I
initially fell asleep, it is obvious that
I got up and did things in my sleep. A
couple of days later, I went to bed in my
bedroom and woke up the next day on my
couch...
A week later I flew to california, and
while sleeping at my friend's apartment I
got up and opened the blinds in her room.
This time I woke up in the middle of it
and felt very uncomfortable and strange
when I woke up standing at the window.
And finally, last night I went to bed and
woke up to the sound of a fan that I had
never even known about before. I had at
one point, slept walked in to my laundry
room and turned on a fan that I didn't
even know about prior to this incident. I
also changed the temperature on the
thermostat from 80 to 95 and threw some of
my couch cushions on the floor.
My question is, at what point do I need to
see a doctor about this?

check out the thread. Sleep paralysis is
the opposite of sleepwalking. I made a
comment about the differences.
You should make an appointment with a
sleep doctor. If you have hmo, go see
your regular doctor and have him or her
recommend a sleep study at a nearby sleep
clinic. That'll be your foot in the door
with a sleep doctor.
The dangers to sleepwalking is that you
can hurt yourself or others. Take
precautions to protect yourself mostly.
Put child locks on drawers with knives
before going to bed and make sure the
floors are clear of anything you might be
able to trip over. Lock doors.
Do you live with anyone?

No I live by myself. I did a test to see
how I would respond in my sleep. I closed
my bedroom door, taped it closed in a few
places, and then put my chair in front of
it. I went to bed and when I woke up the
door was open and my chair was back where
it belonged. This kind of scares me
because it looks like I have been doing
this every night since about a week or two
ago.
