Stress @ Work / Addiction to Pills? / Potential Health Risk? Posted: 10-17-06 15:18pm
Recently my workload has increased twofold
to even threefold. I am the "go-to guy
for whenever another team needs slack
picked up. Unfortunately, this has been
going on for well over a month.
In the past month, I have emptied out (all
but maybe 5 bayers of a 50ct bottle) a
bayer bottle. The rest probably won't
last past lunch tomorrow. On top of
that, I have probably taken minimum of 50+
regular pain reliver / fever reducing
ibuprofens. Added all up, over the last
month, I have taken probably close to
40,000mg of this pain reliver if not more
by day's end tomorrow.
Little by little I am starting to build a
tolerance to even 2000mg total doses a
day. Today i've already taken 3200mg (4
bayer and 6 ibuprofens). I am getting a
bit scared at 1) what it is doing to my
insides and 2) the fact that anything less
then a 1000-1600mg dose does nothing for
me.
How bad is this or how bad could it get?
(fyi: I am 26, 5'8", 165lbs)

Please back off on some of those meds,
they can make your stomach bleed, I am not
a dr but my dr has told me this and I
cannot take I byorofen for that reason,
not even aspirin.
Good luck!

Organ Damage Posted: 10-20-06 17:42pm
I'd have to suggest that you may be
damaging internal organs with all the pain
meds, kidneys are a concern here. Not to
mention what you are doing to your immune
system. Have you ever thought about
meditation? 20 minutes in the morning
before work and 20 minutes at night could
do you a lot of good. It would
definately help with the stress factor.
