Hi lorraine,
have tried to answer your e-mail and it has twice been returned, so I have copied it here:
hello lorraine,
firstly I really dont have any success stories for you, I had a rib graft a couple of years ago which didnt work (i had arthritis from an earlier fracture), the graft didnt work, then my surgeon tried a titanium joint replacement, which after a few months became loose and unstable, I had the titanium joint fitted in the may and had it removed in the october. It seems that my body rejected the metal (thats why the first graft failed, metal screws),i was never given a metal allergy test which apparently I should have. I have only scar tissue working my left jaw joint (not very nice), then last year my right joint became very painful, then cracking, locking and extremely unstable etc, I was beside myself with panic, I had 3 operations on my left and was no better off so the thought of the other side being operated on was terrifying. Anyway on 12th september this year I let mr philip mcgloughlin (ninewells hospital dundee scotland) operate on me for the 4th time and at the moment I cannot comment because I still have amazing post op pain, jaw momement is limited and my bite has totally changed, so watch this space, and I will let you know if this one has a happy ending cos the last 3 aint.
This tmj disorder stinks and hey take care.
