Q: My Friend Again

My friend is over a month pregnant, and i'm taking her to a clinic on thursday to get her a checkup. (i had to tell her that she needs appointments! She doesn't seem to know a whole lot about pregnancy. =/) anyways, is it too early to go to a prenatal appointment like the one i'm taking her to and what can she expect? I'm very worried/excited for her. Her mom is extremely mad at her and her boyfriend and has forbidden her to see or speak to her boyfriend. Talk about harsh!

Thats really stupid of her mother to say she can speak to her boyfriend.. She should want this guy in her daughters life so he takes responsibility for the up coming baby.... Jeez.. I dont understand some people....

But yeah she should see the doc asap, and then the doctor will discuss everything to her about how often she will need appointments... I saw a doc every 2 weeks but thats because I was set in a high risk factor I think most is every month to start then every 2 weeks then in your last month every week. But im not possitive..

Extremely eHealthy
Your friend should tell her mother that she needs to keep in contact with her boyfriend because he needs to take responcibility for his child. Her mother is doing more harm than good by letting him "off the hook" in a way.

She needs to go straight away, as soon as a doctor will see her in order to make sure that everything is ok. Then after that she will see the doctor once a month until her 34th week and then she will go to two times a week until approx her 38th week and then she will begin to go once a week and then at her 40th week it will be about ever other day until she delivers.

A lot of doctors won't see you until you're at least 8 weeks along. Make sure she's taking some sort of prenatal vitamins, they sell them at walmart and pharmacies over-the-counter. I think most doctors do monthly appointments until week 28 or so, then every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, then weekly until the end. Oh, and tell her to get used to peeing in a cup!

oh, believe me. She's tried, and one of our other friends even tried to convince her. Her mom is very stubborn and doesn't listen to other people. But my friend still sees her boyfriend without her mom knowing.

It sounds like her mother is just being vindictive. This boy dared to get her daughter pregnant, so she's going to be irritated and pissy about it and forbid him coming around. She's not thinking about the welfare of her grandchild or her daughter needing the father of her baby around. What a selfish thing to do.

well she needs to keep in contact with him so she can learn about his family history so the doctor will know if they need to look or test for certain things.
