If you started your pill the first day of your period [first day of bleeding] then you are protected immediately. If you started your pill the sunday after your period started [sunday start] then you must wait 7 days for the pill to become effective.

Yes. You should be fine if you've been taking your pill correctly.

See I don't quite agree. I would think it's a month. I mean I would think that you need the whole cycle of hormones so it'll take effect. A week is much too fast.

Though it's been said that there's a 6 hour window if you miss your pill then others say an hour.

If you think you're pregnant the best thing to do it take a pregnancy test around when your period will come.

There is one bc pill that takes a month - I just can't for the life of me remember what it is called - I think it is one of the tri-phasic pils - definately not one of the usual mono phasic pills.

On the whole it is 7 days - and if it says 7 days in your leaflet - then why disbelieve it - that leaflet is there for factual information about your medication.

The six hour one hour thing is different types of pill.
If you are using a normal bc pill then you have a six hour window in which you are still safe if you forget your pill and take it late.

If you use a mini pill or pop (progesterone only pill) then you must take it within 1 hour of your usual time each day.

Always check the leaflet in your pill box as that will give you the most accurate information for your specific pill.
