Welcome! I am not a dr but it sound to me like you have a urinary tract infection that needs to be treated by a dr and meds, something like a bladder infection or a kidney infection. You need to go to the dr as soon as you can but in the meantime drink some cranberry juice and lots of water to try and flush out your system, their are also cranberry pills, check with your pharmacist or natural herb store. Without treatment, it can become worse!

Good luck

Yup, ditto sandyallen.

I feel your pain! Yeah, take lots of water, lots of cranberry juice, and I found that a teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in water helps too. Apparently it helps reduce the acidity levels in your urine so it doesnt sting so much.

Boots and other chemists should stock cystitis remedies, too, if you have access to a pharmacy check that out too!

Aww I feel for you, I used to get urinary tract infections all the time and this is exactly what it sounds like. They can get to be very painful at times and can even cause stomach cramping etc. At that point in my life I didn't have health insurance and couldn't afford to go to a doctor. Through some research I found that taking pills called "juni-pars" which contains: juniper berries, parsley root, marshmallow root, golden seal root, uva ursi leaf, lobelia herb, and ginger root. That definately cured it for me without the need of antibiotics. I bought the Dr. Christopher's brand of juni-pars...Local health stores should have it. Also available at local pharmacys is something called "uristat" and that will ease the burning sensation until you can get treatment. Don't be alarmed it will turn your urine an orange color. Best option is to see a doctor and get an antibiotic, if that is not an option for you try the juniper capsules...Worked like a charm for me! Good luck.

Bacteria getting into your urethra.
This can happen by wearing thong knickers, tight/synthetic fabrics, wiping from back to front when you go potty (always wipe from front to back other wise you wipe botty bacteria straight up to your vagina and urethra).
Also: not empting the bladder properly - there can be bacteria in the urine and if you don't empty the sit in there and multiply, friction across your urethra during sex can push bacteria in as well.

However the most common cause is wiping the wrong way.

I've been really scared lately as I have been feeling the same... Minor sting and sharp pain down below, as well as stomach cramping and sharp pain near it towards my right side as well. I was worried sick to my stomach trying to think what's wrong with me?? Could it just be this? Are there other symptoms as well?

Thanks, I hope that's all. I've been so worried because I also recently had fever and sore throat. Just to update you, today I been needing to pee a million times and I have extreme pain in my abdomen area (?). Any other comments would be appreciated.

you need to go see a doctor. The pain in your abdomen is likely your kidneys. A urinary tract infection can spread to your kidneys. It will not go away without antibiotics.

A simple pee in a cup and the doctor gives you a prescription and you are on your way. Or, you could wait around frequently and painfully urinating. Your choice.
