I was absolutlely amazed when I saw this.
i have exactly the same problem.
Im 24 and this has bothered me for about 4 years. I cant rememebr what started it. At first I thought maybe it was a pet-hate that has gotten out of control.
I know exactly how you feel, the lip-smacking, slurping and worst of all of for me is the sound of teeth munching together ( the bite noise ) it makes me feel sick and I get so angry. Its only with my family though. At meal times if I absolutely have to sit with them I talk loudly so I cannot hear it and prefer it if there is music on. I have been so enraged by it at times and have had the urge to bang my cutlery on the table. This does sound so crazy but i'd feel kind of embarrased to tell my family how to eat.
i have never expressed my feelings to my family about this.....Maybe I should?? Maybe you should too, or just explain that you cannot eat with them as you cannot stand the noise.
Do you think that you cannot watch them eat now because when you see them with food you know whats coming and have a feeling of disgust??
I've thought about this at length and have come to the conclusion that its ony good table manners to not smack your lips and slurp when you eat and this obviously annoys us. There is no need for it.
I understand you totally and if you are weird then so am i!!
