I was in a car accident 9/22. I blacked out (no drugs/alcohol involved)and totalled a car. I left the er with 2nd degree burns from the airbag and cat scans seemingly normal. I got a call the next morning from the er saying I needed to come back asap because they had missed something. That something was a subdural hematoma. They did another ct and the neurosurgeon came down to talk to me and sent me home.
However, at my followup with my pcp today he referred me to see a neurologist asap. I get occasional headaches (in the same spot) that last for a minute or so when I start moving from a sitting or laying down position. Also, I occasionally have moments of blackness when I stand up but those only last for mere seconds.
I am assuming the hematoma is probably chronic since it appeared to have no change in my recent cat scans. I had a cat scan 3/30/06 due to a sexual assault and trauma to the head but everything was normal then. Should I go see the neurologist that my pcp referred me to? I mean wouldnt the neurosurgeon have done that if necessary?
Edit: I wanted to add on that 3 days prior to the blackout, I woke up very nauseous and vomited multiple times. Since the accident, I have felt nauseuous a few days
