Q: Is This a Valid Reason to Abort?
asked by: Becky on October 1st, 2006

My (not so close) friend confessed to me that she is nearly 18 weeks pregnant but doesn't know who the father is. Her boyfriend is black but she cheated on him with a white guy.
She is now scared that the white guy is the father and the baby will be born white (she is white also)

she was very happy initally to be pregnant and wanted a baby (her boyfriend and her were trying) she come off birth control to try for a baby with her boyfriend and didn't use a condom with the one night stand Rolling Eyes

she is now saying that she is going to get an abortion as she is scared that the baby will come out pure white. She .R.E.A.L.L.Y wants a baby and is upset at wanting to have an abortion but she said that she can just have another.

I think her reasoning is wrong and she will regret this. What do you think?

The truth is that any reasons that is good enough for the woman, is good enough to have an abortion.

Even though you may not agree, it is not up to you as a friend to necessarily agree... We do not know her inner feelings, and what she is going through.

Yes, she technically can have another baby later.

I know this but it is the way she is saying that she really does want this baby and has picked out names/bought clothes etc already.

She has already bought a push chair too. This to me isn't someone who truly wants an abortion... She goes on about the baby kicking all the time,

It does seem a bit twisted to be buying a pushchair one minute and then talking about abortion the next.

How long has she known she is pregnant? I think she's leaving it a bit late, personally.

Maybe she is just attention seeking?

She may in fact want a baby, but he doesn't want a 'white' baby because it would be obvious that she cheated.

Yeah, its pathetic that she would abort just because its a "white" baby.
Maybe she should learn to use protection, especially with a one night stand, what a promiscuous person . What if he had aids? Then what? fool.

Gotta say beck, your mate is only thinking about herself. She cant keep chopping and changing her mind. Shes obviously confused and needs to decide soon, or seek professional help. None of us can decide for her. Its her life, so she needs to live it.

At 18 weeks, she would need a lot of money, time to travel, and to find a doctor willing to perform the abortion.

She is fast running out of time for that to even be an option at all.

They can do prenatal paternity tests if she is so inclined. However, I think it may already be too late for her to seek an abortion anyway so she might as well suck it up, tell her boyfriend what happened and that she doubts he is the father. I don't see any other way for her.

i would say your anti-rights

pro-life has just as much right here as we do

second off we dont agree with their views vice versa get used to it, they have a right to an opinion as we do so if your pro-choice then support their choose to think that way..

I left a post regarding this in the abortion debate beck

At the end of the day if your not pro-choice then leave.

Diamond I am not anti-rights I do agree with some pro-life things. But not many. Just cause I dont write that I agree with them doesnt mean I dont.

In fact I dont really write much cause when I do, it gets turned into a massive slagging match started by pro-lifers like cowboys and diamond splinter.

why should they leave when they have rights as well, you need to understand that even if you think you are right they/you will need to learn that but dont worry it comes with time, everday I learn something new.

this is an abortion support forum. So its not me who needs to learn anything. If your not offering support then as tazzy has said before to those two many times nicely. Leave. They know it. I know it. Now you know it Smile

I don't see why pro-lifers should have to 'leave' this board. As long as they are not being argumentative and imflammatory then I think their opinions and advice is just as useful as a pro-choicer's (to whom the same rules apply). Obviously, if someone is writing to say they are certain they want an abortion and want to know about procedures and stuff then it would be inappropraite for a pro-lifer to tell that person that they are evil and wrong etc.

However, if someone wants advice about what to do in their circumstances of, for example, an unwanted pregnancy, then a pro-lifer has as much right as a pro-choicer to respond on this board.

Everyone just needs to respect each other's opinions, not stoop to childish name-calling and most of all, be supportive and helpful to the original poster.
