There can be false negatives if there is not enough hcg in your system. That is why you use the first morning urine with a high concentration of hcg in it.

If you are late for your period, it is ok to test. If you get a negative and still do not start your period, take another test.

You can go to planned parenthood or to your own doctor to get tested for pregnancy. Planned parenthood will do it for free.
