Hey - so im on birth control... I have been for about one month now, according to the pills I should be on my period starting today. I haven't started yet. Im worried, in this past month i've had many, many rounds of unprotected sex, my question is..... How long does it take for birth control to start working??? Could I be pregnant???... I started my last period on a sunday, so I took the first pill of my pack that night (im on marvelon and take my pills at about 10 every night, I have not taken my first green pill yet). Any information would be appreciated...

Hmm..
Still nothing has happened... I went to the website for marvelon, and they say that if I start the pill on the first day of my cycle (which I did) I am protected after 7 days. I didn't have sex during those 7 days... However during the rest of the month I didn't use another method of bc, (condom, foam, etc). Now since I got my period on january 4th.... Should I be getting it around then this coming month? Or should I be getting it when im on these green pills? I am soooo confused about all this. And really worried too.. Someone please respond with what you think about all this!

You should be getting your period when you're on the green pills...Maybe 3 or 4 days after you've been on the green pills (or maybe 2 days after, or maybe 6 days after....Everyone is different). You probably won't get your period at the same time this month that you would if you weren't taking the pills 'cause your body is adjusting to the new hormone levels. If you took your pills right every day, there's a good chance that you're fine. But if you haven't started your period by the time you start the pills with the hormones in them again, you may want to see your doctor or something (it could still be your body just adjusting to the pills, though...). I hope this helped a bit. Good luck.

Still a Pessimist...
Alright, well thanks you guys for encouraging me that everything should be fine. Thats really what I needed to hear right now. I've told my b/f about everything, and he's also really worried. Neither of us want a kid (we're only 17!!). Im really really hoping that this whole thing is just my body getting used to the change. I shall keep u posted with what happens in the next few days.

P.S- no, I am not taking or have not taken any antibiotics in the past months... So everything should be fine there. Confused

Another Question...
Is the pill supposed to make your discharge change? Cuz mine is now a brown colour, and it smells different too.. Is this part of the side effects? Or something else perhaps?

Same Problem
I am having the same problem as you are. I have however been on birth control for almost a year and a half, but just recently I have had a brown colored discharge and don't know what it is. I am engaged and have been sexually active with my fiance, so i'm wondering if it could be like what others have said on this site...A bacterial infection. I'm stumped though.

Yea, it could be a bacterial infection... I did get really sore down there about a month and a half ago, swollen, and had chunky smelly discharge...But it went away after about a week so I thought I was better......Till the brown discharge came.... Well I have to go to the doctor soon to get checked so she can write me a prescription for bc, i'll bring it up then.

Whats happened to me so far is.... That time at work when I thought that I got my af.. I didn't, so I was really worried.. But I eventually got it on the thursday, lasted 4 days instead of the usual 6 or 7, that was nice! My first month I had brown discahrge throughout. But now I don't, however it still smells different. I have yet to go to the doc to get checked out and what not.. Making the appt. Sometime this coming week. Thanks for your concern! Smile
