It'll give you diarrhea. Have fun with that.

The cramping from the diarrhea *might* bring on labor, but only if your body is already ready for labor. Try sex instead. It has about as much chance as castor oil of working, and it's more fun than sitting on the toilet all night. Wink

Yea, sex made me go into labor at 37 weeks. I wasn't ready...But I guess she was.

There's a hormone in semen that is almost identical to oxytocin, which is the hormone your brain produces to start contractions. The hospitals have a drug "pitocin" which also mimics it.

Have sex, not the squirts!!

Even if it *did* end up working...

I would be incredibly' miserable if I were having diarrhea while I was in labor. Ugh.

This is an old wives tale. The fact of the matter is, labor starts when the baby is ready and not before.

You can try walking, spicy food, sex, nipple stimulation, castor oil, etc. And if you do go into labor, you might think it was because of something you tried - like, say, the sex. But it would be sheer coincidence. Your body will only go into labor when certain hormones are produced. Hormones that are created by the baby.

I know the end is hard. Try to get some rest and unplug that darn phone so people will quit calling to remind you that you haven't had the baby yet.

This is why it is called an estimated due date and not an actual due date.
