I am a 52 year old male and had 3 grand mal seizures in the last 2 years, my Dr. Has had me on phenytoin (dilantin) for the last 2 years and it seems as if the gland under 1 arm has started bothering me for the last few months appears to be a little swollen I informed him of that and had me get a mri which did not show anything, now lately I have had the glands behind my knees bothering me, has anyone had this problem, and could it be caused by the medicine?

Dilantin
Hi, my name is sharon. I've been on dilantin for the duration of my diagnosis -many years. I'm now 47 and in 98 I had a hystercctomy. It was after that I noticed swollen glands under my arms and behind my knees. I thought it was due to hormones. I have had other side effects due to taking dilantin. Swollen gums. I talked to a dentist friend about it and he told me the dilantin would cause your gums to be very tender and swollen. Dilantin is the only med. I can take for my epilepsy that works for me. I have other health problems. Lupus, fibromyalgiia, ashma, and the list goes on...... Sometimes it is hard to tell what is causing what! I hope you find some answers. Smile
