I am a 52 year old male and had 3 grand
mal seizures in the last 2 years, my Dr.
Has had me on phenytoin (dilantin) for the
last 2 years and it seems as if the gland
under 1 arm has started bothering me for
the last few months appears to be a little
swollen I informed him of that and had me
get a mri which did not show anything, now
lately I have had the glands behind my
knees bothering me, has anyone had this
problem, and could it be caused by the
medicine?

Dilantin Posted: 08-29-03 09:28am
Hi, my name is sharon. I've been on
dilantin for the duration of my diagnosis
-many years. I'm now 47 and in 98 I had a
hystercctomy. It was after that I
noticed swollen glands under my arms and
behind my knees. I thought it was due to
hormones. I have had other side effects
due to taking dilantin. Swollen gums. I
talked to a dentist friend about it and he
told me the dilantin would cause your gums
to be very tender and swollen. Dilantin
is the only med. I can take for my
epilepsy that works for me. I have other
health problems. Lupus, fibromyalgiia,
ashma, and the list goes on......
Sometimes it is hard to tell what is
causing what! I hope you find some
answers.
