A little background:

i was diagnosed with bpv (benign positional vertigo) a few years ago. Bouts of dizziness and nausea after certain movements. Waiting for a follow up appointment at the hospital so they can try and treat it, but I don't get it for no reason - always following certain movement - so I simply avoid those movements.

Maybe not related but for a couple of weeks I have had a twitch in my right-lower eyelid. Sometimes bad sometimes not.

I would consider myself highly stressed, and often feel tired through lack of sleep.

Last friday (5 days ago) I was rushing around in the house. I spun round quickly and felt very dizzy and sick instantly. It subsided somewhat, but I was ill all evening, and was eventually sick (which made me feel much better for a while).

Following day I woke up with no symptoms. However, throughout the day a dull dizzy feeling came back. I also had a pain in one side of my next (like I had pulled/trapped something). Same the next day, and the next, woke up fine but got slowly dizzy during the morning.

It's not unusual for me to get neck pain from sleeping in a bad position etc. So the neck pain could be entirely unrelated.

Yesteday I fely really bad again in the afternoon - fely like there was pressure inside my head - along with dizzy/sick feeling.

Managed to get into the doctors that afternoon. Doctor thinks it's all related to my bpv and says there is nothing to do other than wait. Checked my blood pressure etc. And asked a lot of questions. She thinks the eyelid twitch is unrelated and caused by stress.

I have been prescribed stemetil (a long time ago) so have been taking them with no noticeable success.

Thing is, I have never had a dizzy spell from bpv which lasted more than a day or two maximum.

This morning I woke fine again (6am) but around 9am started feeling dizzy again.

A couple of colleagues have mentioned having dizzy spells lately too which got me thinking could this be the bpv or something else like labrynthitis? Or could it be something thet has aggrevated the bpv?

I am going back to the doctors tomorrow for a second opinion, but want to know the right questions to ask etc.

If this is bpv-related and there really is nothing that can be done, then I guess I just have to wait for it to subside. But if it's infection-related etc. Then I want to get the right treatment and get rid of this horrible feeling as soon as possible.

Edit: for some reason the forum has removed a lot of my capital letters so this post looks odd! Sorry, but I did use capitals in all the right places.

Dizzy
Hi there,
Maybe you should have an MRI done of your head to make sure you have no plugged arteries. BPV I don't think comes with pain. That is an odd symptom. Keep looking and don't give up. Some doctor out there should know to look further.

hi, i have had bppv twice. my bouts lasted for about 6mths each time on/off. i had a nystagmus with mine that was vertical which is not apprently typical of this disease. i went to see a neurologist and he did a hall pike manouver on me there and then and then i had to sleep upright for two days and then i was better. i had the mri scan and it came back ok. i used to wake up with dizziness from turning over in bed. i was at first given bethahistine tablets for ages until this manouver was done. i have been symptom free for ages now but i still worry when i get any dizziness and tilt my head back to check if its this returning. I have never had an episode to actually last a day or two although i must admit i often get dizziness but not positional. try the hall pike manouver first. Smile
