Firstly, I want to say that i'm 6 weeks
and 3 days pregnant with twins. I was
having some light spotting mid-month,
before I knew I was pregnant. Once I got
the positive result, the nurse told me to
come in to the er to be seen because of
past miscarriages and such. Had an
ultrasound and a pelvic. The dr said
everything looked fine. My cervix was a
little loose but closed, the twins had
good heartrates and bloodflow.
Here's the question:
back in like 97 maybe, I had a leep
procedure done. Since then i've had 3
miscarriages due to my cervix not closing.
I've been reading up and they say that
the procedure may effect that. My first
appointment isnt for another week and a
half and i've never carried past my 5th
week in any pregnancy. So i'm past that
now, but i'm really worried especially
with my cervix being a little "loose"
already. Do you think I should call the
dr's office or just wait the week and a
half. It's on the 6th. I do have mild
cramping, which they said was just my
uterus stretching not to be concerned.
Sometimes it gets pretty painful but I
also have an uti. Maybe i'm just
overreacting but i'm really afraid. What
do you think?

I would go to the dr and have them suture
your cervix, honestly hvaing a dr tell you
its abit loose and not do anything about
it then is abit irrespinsible!

Yeah they should be able to put a suture
(stitch) in it so that it remains closed
and then they will remove it a few weeks
before your due
i would go to the dr and

well, I have called them. Actually right
after posting this. The nurse says that
it's too early to have a cercelage done,
which is what the "stitch" is called.
She looked over my ultrasound results and
said that my cervix is closed and there's
really no such thing as a "loose" cervix.
It's either closed or not. It's soft,
but it's supposed to be. She said that
everything looks fine but until I have my
intial doctor's exam there's no way of
telling if my cervix is weak. To be
safe, she told me to not do alot of
walking or anything I dont have to do.
Lay down as much as possible and if I
start bleeding go to the er, there's
nothing warranting me being seen before
the 6th of oct and it's really not that
far away. My twins are high in my
uterus, a nice size, with good bloodflow
and strong heartrates. She was really
nice and she looked through my paperwork
and test results while we were talking.
So I dont think I was ever irresponsible,
I was concerned but sometimes a new mother
to be can be a little overly concerned
even after the doctors reassure you
everything is fine. I think it's in our
nature to overreact to some things
especially when you've had past failed
pregnancies. So no, irresponsible I am
not.

it's too early yet to have that procedure
done. If they find that my cervix is a
little weak, they'll do it after my 8th
week. The er doctor reassured me that
everything was fine and looked perfect so
far but i've had 3 miscarriages in the
past so i'm overly cautious and concerned
about everything that could possibly go
wrong. I read up on the leep procedure
online today, before reading it, I had
forgotten all about even having it
done...So it raised some concern for me
obviously. I want them to explore every
possiblity of anything going wrong before
it happens. I pray daily that my twins
and I make it throughout the pregnancy
healthy and I plan on doing anything in my
power to make that happen. Sometimes we
can get a tad overly concerned, I think
that's in a mother to be's nature though.
Especially considering my past.
