I've noticed for awhile now that whenever I try to take a deep breath my lungs get the sensation of being really cold and force me to stop with a feeling like im about to choke, kind of how they feel when you walk outside in 0 degree weather and take that first breath, other then that ive had no med. Problems and have always been healthy...Any ideas :/, oh and I also wake up in the morning alot with a sore chest, dunno why...

possible pulmonary embolism? is it hard or painful to breathe? does it feel like someone is sitting on your chest? i would def. call your docs office and at least talk to a nurse.

Lung functions tests and VCD
Yes all of you should see an asthma specialist especially dieby, when you feel your throat constriction that could be a sign of vocal cord dysfunction, do u feel like your being strangled when very stressed or over exhert your self. VCD is treated by retraining the vocal cords, it can also be confused as asthma, especially if you have a heavy raspy wheezing. You all should have a simple test called a "sperometry test" it's when they test your lung function capacity, u must see a specilist for this test. The "boot" on the chest is when i gage my self to seek medical help. If it feels like a "shoe" on the chest, it means your probably inflammed, if u have a "boot" on your chest, u absolutly need to see a doctor. Some of you may have a combination of these issues that take time to sort out, so please seek advice. If u wake up tired from sleep and feel like you have the boot on your chest and have difficulty walking, then go to the ER, asked to be referred to a specialist. For the VCD, if u get NO relief from asthma drugs, then definatly seek out an EAR, NOSE & THROAT doctor or and ENT for short, i thought when my specialist was frusterated with me constantly coming back into the hospital (he has been my lung specilist since, well 20 years now, so he knows me well)He said "Wanda, I want you to see and ENT and go to Speech therapy" I was like what the heck, i don't have time, WELL IT WAS THE BEST DECISION I EVER MADE. I now don;t feel like i am being strangled and when i get that panicky feeling, i have tools to treat it.. So go friends, be open and honest with your lung specilists, don't feel bad to ask your family doctor for a refferal, its a good thing for you all. As for the cold thing, i have noticed that as well this year, and i think it might be pollution on my part. Please let us know how you r doing. god bless WW Idea
