Q: Depo Provera Quest...

Hi. I used to be on depo provera many many years ago and had no problems with it. I do remember when I got off it that I had a period that basically lasted (lightly) three weeks but as I hadn't had my period at all, I understood.

I decided to get back on it recently. I got the shot on my first day of my period, which normally lasts 4 - 5 days. Now it is day 10 and I am still bleeding. Granted it is not an extreme amount but enough to need a tampon.

Has anyone experienced this? I know it can make you have infrequent periods and all but 10 days!? It's getting a bit old if you know what I mean. Any info would help. Thanks.

Extremely eHealthy

When you first start using depo[again] it takes a month or so for your body to adjust to the hormones, so some irregular bleeding is to be expected. Some women always have problems with depo, and some women will love depo, it is an individual experience.

Women are oblivious to how bad depo is..I took 2 shots and I bled for months...Then started having cysts like crazy. It also paid me gain 15 pounds...

I gained 30lbs when I was on depo-shot. I am not sure if the weight gain was contributed from the shot or a direct reflection of eating poorly. Everywhere I read about the depo shot, I do find that somone has a major complaint about sever weight gain.
