Did any of you get pregnant by having sex on ovulation day only? I know it sounds like a stupid question, but the internet has confusing facts.

Thank you

Emma2,

some sites on the internet say that your best chances of getting pregnant are the days leading to ovulation not exactly that day. Then other sites say that you can get pregnant if you have sex on ovulation day. I am just alittle confused on if my chances are good or not at conceiving this month. We were going to wait one more month to start trying, but that change within minute and it just so happens it changed on ovulation day.

ok I see....Yes, it is true that you have better chances days prior to ovulation. The highest rate of conception has been proven to be 2 days prior to ovulation ...Why? Simply because sperm takes at least 12 hours to prep themselves once ejaculated and take quiet a while to swim to your tubes to catch the egg. Ideally it is best when the sperm is already waiting by the ovary for the egg to be released....Why? Because the egg is only viable for approx 6-24 hours....Some eggs have shown to start detriorating as early at 6 hours after being released. The chances of concieving on the day of o is not impossible but less likely ...Why?..Because for one, no one is 100% certian when we ovulate...Secondly, the sperm may not have enough time to travel and catch the egg on time ..Oh and having sex every other day is only recommended for men with a lower sperm count otherwise everyday during your fertile time is just fine.

Especially eHealthy
I personally had sex every day about three days before and after my estimated ovulation, and once during. I'm not sure exactly which day I conceived, but I do know that it happened that same month. They say the odds for a healthy couple conceiving are about 20-25%, and we fell into that margin the same month we began trying.

Some people suggest you try every other day, to maintain a larger sperm count in your partner. I would suggest you start a few days before you ovulate, just to get some of the little guys into position, but do it as often as you like. Remember to have fun, and try not to think of it as a job. Sometimes you can get so wrapped up in conceiving a baby that you forget that sex is supposed to be enjoyable. Good luck, hon! *baby dust*
