Is it normal to be dilated this early?
Here in germany they check you cervix at
every appointment and at my appointment
yesterday she said I was 2cm but
everything was good, my cervix isnt
thinned or anything I am just dilated
2cm. Is it anything to worry about ? I
am only 26 weeks pregnant right now not
due till dec 27.

here in canada they check your cervix at
every appointment too!!!! And its not
good to be dilated that early. Your
cervix should remain closed ...Why didnt
you discuss your concerns with your dr?

I thought that the usual procedure when a
woman was dilating early was to put a
stitch in the cervix to prevent further
dilation. I agree with .Emma2, I think
you need to go back to your doctor (or
perhaps see a different one) and get this
looked into.

I would def. Talk with your doctor or
whoever is taking care of you. It is not
good to be 2cm at this point. If you
where further along then yes but not at 26
weeks. Did they say that there is a
concern for premature delivery and etc.
Its a wonder that they dont have you in a
hospital and on strict bed rest. I was
put into the hospital and was in there
until I delivered.

i see a german dr at a german hospital
here, my husband is military. They did
the ultrasound pointed out the placenta
the baby said everything was good then the
other dr came in checked my cervix and she
said ur 2cm but everything is good and
thats all she said other then coming back
at 2 weeks for the glucose test wich here
is 304 hrs long they dont do a one hour
one but there was sugar in my urine at my
last appt as well. She didnt tell me to
be on bedrest etc. Maybe I should cut
down on doing stuff but ive been cleaning
and lifting etc all day today and stuff
when I prob shouldnt, I know with this
pregnancy I am doing more strenous
activity since me and hubby now have our
own house and its basically 3 stories cuz
the basement so im up and down stairs ,
climbing a baby gate with my 1 yr old
carrying him around carrying grocerys in
but eh hubbys always wore out from work so
I end up doing it all . The drs here are
weird they dont tell u much info and all
the same people are here all the time, I
dont even know the name of my dr lol isee
3 diff ones at every appt. When I went to
the hospital for an emergency I saw a male
dr but it was late at night so I dunno its
a very small hospital. And the language
barrier too so it kinda sucks I wish I
were stateside lol

Well, maybe in montreal they check you
every appointment, but my midwife never
checks--not the whole pregnancy. She
doesn't do any vaginal exams until the end
when I ask for a stretch and sweep.

because I know a girl(a good friend) who
got married and moved to .Germany with her
man who was in the military. She got
pregnant and had a son.
I'm just wondering....

Sorry to change the subject. Your little
boy has gotten so big now! How old is he?
I think he looks like you. You even look
happier now!
All the best!

ha, I figured out how to quote!
Oh, i'm not sorry! So invasive! That's
why I see a midwife--to have less
interventions. I think there's more risk
involved in being checked so often and
exposing your cervix to possible germs
(even though of course they're careful and
everything). Maybe it's a midwife thing
to not check...
