Where to Find Detailed Information ??? Posted: 01-24-04 14:40pm
i'm 10 years post
menopause with a 6 cm ovarian cyst we have
been monitoring at my insistence since
june 2002. I've had crohn's disease for
25 years with one bypass resection
(eisenhower surgery) of the mid ileum in
1978 followed by a 20 year remission.
I've been experiencing very mild crohn's
symptoms since late1998. These have been
satisfactorily controlled up to and
including the present. No
hospitalizations, no er visits. I also
have copd.
However, one of the leading gastro
departments in the us has been
recommending resection since 1999 without
giving me a satisfactory reason to agree
to the surgery and no advice on treating
medically.
Where can I find detailed information on
what I assume would be a complete
supracervical hysterectomy, ovary and tube
removal? An actual video of such surgery
would be ideal!
Where can I find detailed information on
small bowel resection and strictureplasty?
Again an actual video would be ideal.
I've attended surgery and necropsies on
dogs, some of them my very favorites, over
30 years of breeding and showing them just
so you understand what I mean by detailed
information.
Also a question about the respirator: can
the respirator tube be placed thru the
mouth rather than the nose?
Can the patient be taken off the
respirator long enough to be stood up, to
walk a few steps, before being put back on
the respirator?
I'm concerned about inactivity after
surgery and getting the bowels moving,
reducing adhesions, strengthening muscles
and standing straight if it is necessary
to remain on the respirator for several
days after such surgery.
