My daughter is being weaned from tegretol. She started taking the medication at 11mths and is now 5.5yrs old. We began weaning her on december 20, 2003. About a week into the weaning process, we noticed a change in her behavior. Her school teacher and karate teacher have also noticed a change. She can become very agitated, defiant and oppositional. Is it possible that the change in dosage is affecting her behavior?

Tegretol affects moods. (it is used, for example, in bipolar disorder as a mood stabilizer). Tegretol can also cause the side effect of depression.
