Every time you get the idea to have a smoke, just tell yourself you are happy to be not smoking, and you hate smoking. That is why you quit in the first place. Every time you resist, the craving for nicotene will decrease, and after 5 days, you will realize you can think about something more than having a cigarette. After 3 weeks you will see a difference.

I also recommend reading the book "easy way to stop smoking". The book is great, and you will no doubt quit smoking. Plus, there will be no cravings, no will power needed. I am still amazed by what the book did for me.

Amandaj, can you give us a progress report? Even if you are back on the sticks that is okay, dont let the guilt get to you. Lets us know how you are making out.

I am now 8 weeks, no cravings, no withdrawls, hang around smokers all the time, never going to smoke.

Let me know how you are making out.

The cravings are crazy, and I experience severe insomnia, and am very worn out and tired. Any tips on how to avoid this will help me alot and you should check out edit as well. Finding many good info and tips on how to quit there too. Good luck, wish me luck! And lets quit quit quit Laughing

Dont let the insomnia get to you. It is only for a short time. The gains are far greater. Clean body, lungs, and clothes. Eventually you will have less stress in your life, and feel 1000% better.

Take the cravings as signs the money on your back is dying. Little by little, but he is dying. If you give in, you keep him alive. In 5 days or so, you will stop thinking about smoking all the time. In 3 weeks you will be in the clear. Cravings are not a bad thing, giving into them is. Just realize they are not cravings as such. Not cravings like food or water, they are more mental. Just realize that every time you do not give in, you are one step to getting better.

You, quit, so you are already a non-smoker. Also, you did not give anything up. You quit a nasty disgusting habit, which you hated, and chose life, health, and freedom. A little enjoyable discomfort for a few short weeks is not going to change the fact you hate smoking, and freedom is so much better.

By the way, do not think now is not a good time to quit. That is just denial. Anytime is a good time to quit. Non-smokers get stress too. You have no excuse to delay or to smoke again. You are no different than some one who does not smoke. They get stressed out, angry, what not....Do you see them reaching for a cigarette? So why do you have to? Because it was the nicotine in the first place that created many of the problems.

Rambling. Sorry.
