I went for my pap smear back in july .. Got a call about 2 weeks after my visit and they found "abnormal cells." so I have to go back for a colposcopy in about a month. Has anyone ever had this done & could you please give me a little information about it or your experience? Is it painful in any way?

Anything would be appreciated.

Hi deebaby, I had undergone a colposcopy months ago because of the abnormal cells in my cervix. It is just like a scan to check how damaged your cervix is and done simultaneously with a biopsy to see if the cells/cysts are cancerous. This procedure will let your doctor know what kind of treatment to give i.E. Letz along with a cone biopsy.

The colposcopy didn't heart a bit but you might have some bleeding because of the biopsy.

I slept thru the letz procedure Smile

Cool. So will I cramp or anything after the procedure is done? How long will I bleed.. If I do?

Sorry, I didn't notice I used 'heart' instead of 'hurt'

anyway, usually you wont feel any cramping as the biopsy will be taken from your cervix area. The bleeding will depend on the size of the sample tissue your doctor will get from you. Some articles say that you may bleed for a week. But I only got it for 2days. Probably depending on how fast your body can heal.

Scared In California
I have HPV, they removed a vulvar wart a few months ago; 5 months ago my pap was normal, I saw them a couple of weeks ago and my pap is abnormal; dsyplasia; I will have a biopsy, what happens if the biospy is not bad news? How is it treated? I feel like they were waiting until something like this showed up. Is it an something that can be dealt with, did they catch it in time to prevent cervical cancer? I'm 53 yrs old.

just wait to see what the colposcopy says. They might not even do biopsy. I had dysplasia and it went away on it's own without no treatment at all.
