Q: Birth Control Patch

Hello,
i've been on the birth control patch for a while now and I have really bad cramps with my periods. I was told that if I had something important to do when my period came that I could keep the patch on and I wont have a period and I wont have to deal with the pain during that time. Is this true and safe?
