Depo provera worked for me. A shot every three months, no period, can't ask for much more.

Except for that weight gain and libido loss. :)

I assume you're looking for temporary birth control, otherwise I would suggest sterilization (tubal ligation or essure) - the failure rate for this is less than one percent.

I don't mean to bash on birch for their suggestion, but I would advise against depo provera just because of all the awful side effects it can cause (sometimes).

your current methods of protection sound like they should be just fine - iuds are very effective (less than one percent failure rate), but I have heard they have a higher failure rate for women who have no had children. I don't know if this would be your case, but I feel it may be useful if this scenario applies to you.

do you mean norplant, tazzy? I don't know how popular this is, but I think the only downside to this is women tend to have longer periods.

Hello cambion I also heard a lot of horror stories on depo and I don't want to try it because some people even call it "evil" haha...I love iud because it has no hormones. Anyways I guess norplant is not available anymore in the us because of the lawsuits that women filed against the company because of bruising when the norplant is removed because it contains 7 sticks which makes it hard for the physician to take it off..

Anyways a new birth control similar to norplant but only contains 1 stick is already fda approved and will hit the market by november or december. It is called implanon..It is more effective than iud, depo and sterilization but I guess it some side effects etc that I wouldn't like...Anyways are you using bc?

She means teaching very young children, being around so many of them for a long period every day would make you not want one of your own, in turn providing "birth control". It's a fairly popular .American joke.

Hope that explanation helps! :)
