Tests indicate nothing...but headaches warn something is wro
Posted: 09-12-06 12:26pm

I have had a headache for the past 5 months every single day. The pain is a sharp pain that shoots across the top of my head and lasts for a few seconds. The pain is so intense that I have to stop whatever it is I am doing for a moment. Along with these headaches I have been having sharp pain in the front of my neck accompanied by a fluttering feeling. When I get this I get lightheaded and sometimes feel like I am going to pass out. I have had a MRI on my head, bllod work, urine tests, EKG, Echocardiogram and a Stress test. Can the two things I mentioned be a related disorder? I know that something is wrong. I would also like to mention that somethimes I am awaken out of my sleep due to this. My doctor thinks I am depressed. I think that he came up with this decision because he couldnt find anything with these few tests. The migraine and tension meds have not helped with the pain. I need some medical advice. Please help!

According to the symptoms you describe (sharp, severe and short-lasting headache and pain in the front of the neck) as well as all negative diagnostic reports you mention... it is really hard to diagnose the cause of the condition. The only diagnostic procedure left is an X-ray imaging of the cervical vertebral column. Spondylotic changes of the cervical vertebra may cause your symptoms. Therefore, cervical spondylosis must also be excluded. If there is nothing wrong with the cervical spine then, together with the other negative reports, there is a possibility of a neurotic disorder, including depression, and this should be considered. You may ask for an expert opinion from a neurologist to follow up.
