Q: This Has Never Happened Before

Hi, I am 27 and I have 2 children. I have taken depo twice before and after my last shot it took 7-8 months for my periods to come back both times. Well, on april 27 I got back on the depo shot but I never went back for my 2nd shot 3 months later because I started having alot of abdomial pain, headaches, dizziness and always felt terrible. Well, around the time I was supposed to get my 2nd shot I started feeling better and normal again. Well, now it's been a little over 4 months since I took that one depo shot. Yesterday I noticed pinkish spotting once when I went to the bathroom. I first assumed it was period fixing to come on, but I never seen anything else the rest of the day. Today when I woke up I had a small amount of brownish spotting, and haven't seen nothing else since. I never spotted or had a period after my 1st depo shot every time I was taking depo. Everything just quit from day one. My question is do you think this spotting has to do with my depo shot even though i'm no longer taking it or do you think there's a chance that my cycle may soon kick in again, or even could it be implantation bleeding even though I hadn't yet had any periods yet since I had that one depo shot? This has never happened before after stopping depo. I usually just had a normal period about 7-8 months later.

it could have to do with the depo shot. It may be your body starting to cycle again. Or it may be pregnancy. There is no way any of us could tell.

I will say that just because it has never happened to you before doesn't mean it won't happen now. You are aging. Your body is changing. As we age and grow, so do our bodies. Throughout our lives our periods will change as will our entire cycles.

The depo shot is a major amount of hormones to introduce into your body, it seems only normal your body would need time to adjust.

If you are at all concerned, please see your doctor.

Okay, well thanks. I'm not concerned enough to go to the Dr. Yet. Does anybody else have any opinions about this?

Well the first thing that I could tell you is take a home pregnancy test. If it is positive that rules it out. If it is negative then you know that its not pregnancy. Then you wait and see if you period starts. It could be a couple of things..
