Q: Strange vibrating sensation: is it a sleeping disorder?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on September 10th, 2006
Almost every night, when I lay down, I get a strange vibrating sensation that lasts until I go to sleep. My whole body feels like its shaking or trembling, but im not physically moving. This only occurs at night and around periods when I sleep. Is this a sleep disorder or a standalone physical issue? It's been happening for about a week consistently, it has occured infrequently in the past.

Sleep Disorders Answer A1512
If the “strange vibrating sensation” you are experiencing interrupt your sleep or don’t allow you to get to sleep, then it is possible that you have a sleeping disorder. But if your sleep is unaffected and you sleep long enough each night, then you probably are not experiencing a sleeping disorder. It seems likely that the “strange vibrating sensations” may be due to some psycho-emotional inconvenience. You may consult your GP first and then a psychiatrist for a full diagnosis.
