Q: Mole: what should I do about the changes I observe?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on September 10th, 2006
I have a mole on my back in which occasionally becomes really itchy and also occasionally becomes very painful to touch. I recently noticed that the skin in the surrounding area is turning to a pale whitish shade which was not like that before. I am not sure if I should be worried about it or not. It creates added stress I suppose. The mole itself if very small and raised. What could be the causes of this? should I be concerned? and what further steps should I be taking?

Every nevus (mole) that appears for the first time, starts to grow, starts to enlarge trough skin’s surface, change color from lighter to darker, becomes inflamed, becomes itchy or painful or starts bleeding can be remuved surgicaly!! All the signs, mentioned above, could mean transformation of benign nevus (mole) into a malignant melanoma. You have to go to a plastic surgeon, as soon as possible.
