Hi, my girlsfriend swears she is on the pill however last time we had sex I noticed a brownish fluid and what looked like small bits of dried blood on condom? I want to ask her what is going on however she is very sensitive. Can anyone please, please tell me what is going on here? Should I not have sex with her? -tim

I don't understand what you mean?

Why would the fact she bled a little be any reflection of whether or not she is on the pill?

Women can have spotting (ie- light bleeding in between periods). Or maybe she was just coming off her period? Or maybe it was rough sex?

I don't understand your concern. Very light bleeding is not neccssarily anything to be concerned about. Ask her if you're worried.

Brownish Fluid And Dried Blood
Thanks 4 your reply! Its just that we have had sex 5 other times and there was never any brownish fluid or dried blood. I do no mean to be disgusting or want to offend anyone however the fluid looked like a mucus with brown streaks in it and bits of dried blood around the condom. I never had this happen to me before so I am nervous. I also met this girl at a bar and she went home with me that night which isn't something I usually do upon knowing someone for 2 hours. Understand where i'm coming from? Also the night I saw this fluid on the condom was the most calm sex we have had thus far. We had much rougher sex before with nothing to show on the condom. She wants to have sex every other day that I see her and all this makes me nervous of her having some sort of std. I asked her if she had anything and she said no. Am I being overly cautious? I could really use a response. Thanks-tim

Shes just spotting. Nothing serious. It's actually an indication that she probably is on the pill.. As this is a normal side effect of being on birth control. Dont worry about it.

thats totally normal for someone on the pill. It is in fact exactly what you describe..."dry old blood" this is caused by hormones fluctuating and more likely to happen to women on the pill....But I still cant understand what you saying "says shes on the pill " have to do with anything....And this is not an std and you'll soon find out when your more mature that all women experience what she has...And if I were you I would never mention any of this doubt to her!

how old are you? I think you need to educate yourself on the famale body or not have sex cause seriously, this is something I would expect a 15 year old to ask.

Ok I apoligize for asking what some obviously consider a ridiculous question. I have been educated on females with ovulation and bleeding but I was under the assumption that if on birth control there would be no bleeding what so ever. I do not have a mom so it's not like I can go to anyone with questions.

well I assumed that most guys knew about that stuff cause I assume it happend to them before so they never worried about it.Thats why I said it was a question I would expect from a 15 yo.Sorry wasn't trying to get nasty! Its absolutly normal though!

We still have our periods when we're using birth control pills. And like emma said, the pill actually causes spotting.
After using the birth control shot (depo-provera) for a while, some women stop having periods until they stop getting the shots.
It was most likely spotting caused from the pill. But she may have been at the very end of her period too. Menstual blood is not always bright red, sometimes in the last day or two it turns darker, even brownish.
Personally, there have been several times that I thought my period was over (because the bleeding had stopped for half a day or so) and then I would have sex (gentle or not) and start bleeding again.
In my opinion she is completely normal. But it's good that you are practicing safe sex and are concerned about what is/isn't normal.

Right after I end my period and have sex there is always a very similar description of what you said on my bf's condom. I think it is more brown because it isn't fresh. I wouldn't be concerened, you can bleed on birth control as well. I think what is most honorable is that you came on here and asked to lok out for yourself! And kudos for wearing a condom.
Good luck!
