Q: Did a Test Today For Hypo

I have noticed that carbs play a big part in how you feel. I believe I have not been getting enough carbs in my system and its causing me to feel down and irritable. So I decided to eat something with sugar and see what happens. What I did to test it out is ate some chocolate. (i know its not good). It definitely made me get out of the feeling down phase. I think it did to much cause I feel drunk/ kinda dizzy/ and dont have good balance right now. Can someone list every vegetable or maybe whole grains I can eat since I dont like vegetables at all really. I havent been paying attention to my carbs so much till the other day. If I can find something that I like to eat I think I can balance this out. Has anyone felt like that from testing to see if your hypo or just by making a mistake?

Well yeah, that's what's going to happen. If you eat some candy like that after a long time of avoiding it you may actually feel fine for a day or so, but expect a bigger crash than normal in a day or so. If you really want to try grains, go for millet or oats, nothing else. If you want more than that, go on to brown rice or sprouted grain bread. Make sure if you go this route you cut back on protein and fat.

Thanks for the reply stan. I went out and got some raw broccoli which to me taste way better than it cooked. I know it taste kinda like grass but I can tolerate with no problem. I was focused on eating the right foods before but not concentrating on the carbs. There for I was not getting any carbs at all except from almonds. I was eating eggs, almonds, meat, and fruit everyday. Hopefully the broccoli gets me where I need to be. Thansk again.

Why don't you try squash? I mean, ideally you need to be eating vegetables, that's just core to all types of healthy eating. Green beans? Have you tried them or anything?

More than that. I eat about a small plateful of lettuce and whatever else i'm eating. So if eggplant, it's like a little over half a cup.

The only thing about lettuce is that there's not much nutritional value to it... I usually try to eat spinach if i'm going to eat vegetables, but I really do hate raw vegetables of any kind.

Also, as far as grains go, flaxseed (if that's a grain) is really good for me... Something about the oils and everything just seems to do a good job regulating my blood sugar.

Green leaf and romaine lettuce have a ton of nutritional value, so always go with them. Head lettuce is worthless.

And of course, all anyone ever wants to eat is iceberg lettuce! Mad it does taste better, i'll admit...

Really? I myself would prefer green leaf, but I guess you're right, it does seem to be what everyone likes, but it doesn't really have much taste, just adds crunch.
