Yesterday, my niece was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy. All I really know about the disease is that it severely weakens the muscles and leads to an early death. I know it is a long shot, but I was wondering if there is anything that would cause a false positive on the blood test. Otherwise, I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has a friend or loved one with sma. My family is having a difficult time dealing with this and I would love someone to talk to. Thanks.
