I know all the adivce says that tofu, and soy products in general, are good sources of protein that will not result in the gout. However, the other day, I had the worse attack yet, and it was right after having a dinner filled with tofu.

I had been gout free for over two months. I was driking milk everyday, but in the last few days had stopped, or just forgot to drink it.

I think the combination of the two is what did me in. The lack of milk, and the big meal of tofu.

Anyone else here suspect tofu is not as safe as the advice in other places says?

hi makoto,

i have had severe gout on and off for past 16 years.

I sometimes go several years with no attacks at all.

Well, one night last april, I had a meal of fried rice with lashings of soy sauce poured over it.

Next day I was in agony in my toe, foot and ankle and continued to get more attacks for several months after being attack free for 2 years.

I think soy sauce and it's by products are one of the worst gout triggers you can get.

I now avoid soy like the plague.

Cheers,

paul.
