I've been on birth control for almost 2 months now. Has anyone else had this problem or is it just me.. Because I feel hungry like all the time! Even after i've eaten a meal.. I still feel like snacking! I'm gaining weight like crazy & i'm normally a pretty average sized 18 year old [size 7.] I just recently quit smoking so i'm sure that's contributing to my weight gain as well. I just want to know if anyone else has had this problem with birth control?

some birth controls tend to make weight gain..Are you on the birthcontrol shot??? Those ones are the kinds of birth controls that make people gain quit a lot, beacuse I used to take the shot abot 3 years ago and I gained like crazy , but as soon as I was off the birth control shot (depo-pravera) I gradualy went back down to my normal size , back to how I should be...Could that be why?? Or do you take the daily pills?

Quitting smoking can cause you to gain weight but don't start again, please! You might alsotalk to your dr about changing your b/c to an iud. Were you gaining weight before youquit smoking on the shot. I have never used the shot so I could not be able to help you there but I do know that we are all different people and different things work different for others. Maybe someone else might haaave more info about the shot.
Good luck!

Well i'm on yaz that new low-dose pill. I don't plan to start back smoking either.. I quit because they seemed to start making me sick? Idk - my boyfriend smokes and everytime he smokes I absolutely can't even stand to smell them! It's weird. All I know is that I can't stop eatin.

hi! I am on the depo shot. The first day I received it I became extremely hungry. It is the hormones that the birth controls puts into your body. Some some reason it makes you very very hungry. I remember, back in sex ed. They told us birth control made your body think you were prego. But after reading through a hundred posts looking for the answer to my questiong (on the main forum) I came across that the birth control that you take actually makes your body think you are going to metiapause. Weird. So, who is right? Lol. Have to ask the experts I guess.

The pills make your body think it is pregnant, so it stops ovulating. Making it think it was in menopause would cause tons of problems, night sweats, hot flashes, etc. Obviously, those aren't common pill symptoms.

I'm sorry! :( I feel your pain... I gained 20 pounds in 3 months after starting birth control, and I have no excuse because i've never smoked. And i'm on the pill, as opposed to the shot.

While I have no advice to offer you, I hope a virtual hug will brighten your day a bit. :)
